Privacy Policy — StepwiseMD

The short version: We collect only what is needed to run your account. We do not sell your data. You can delete your account and all associated data from within the app at any time.

1. Who We Are

StepwiseMD is a mobile study application operated by Bitnit Labs. We can be reached at support@stepwisemd.app.

2. What We Collect

We collect the minimum information required to provide the service:

Email address — used to create and identify your account.
Study activity — your quiz answers, progress, notes, and flagged questions, stored so your work is preserved across sessions.
Session data — a session token and basic device type (iOS or Android) used for authentication.
Crash and error data — anonymous crash reports (device OS version, app version) sent to a third-party monitoring service when errors occur. This data is not linked to your identity.

We do not collect your name, phone number, location, contacts, photos, payment details, or any medical records.

3. How We Use It

To authenticate you and maintain your session.
To save and display your study progress.
To identify and fix bugs and crashes.
To send you transactional emails (e.g. password reset). We do not send marketing emails.

4. Third Parties

We use a small number of trusted service providers to operate the app — for user authentication, backend hosting, and crash monitoring. Each receives only the data necessary for its specific function. We do not use advertising networks. We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.

5. Data Retention

Your account data is retained while your account is active. Crash and diagnostic data is retained for 90 days. When you delete your account, all personal data associated with it is permanently removed within 30 days.

6. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing us at support@stepwisemd.app. You can also delete your account directly in the app via Settings → Account → Delete Account. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Children

StepwiseMD is intended for medical students and is not directed at anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has registered, contact us and we will remove the data immediately.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS) and encrypted on-device storage. No system is completely secure — if you become aware of a security issue, please contact us immediately.

9. Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
